Wendy Reid
Chief of Operations + Growth
What inspires me
Leaders who take on hard, unglamorous work because the mission demands it. Teams that build a practice meant to outlast any single engagement. Walking alongside a professional as they grow into work they didn't know they could do. The moment when a messy, high-stakes problem gives way to a clean, repeatable system that lets good people do their best work.
In Demand Skills
Standing up operational infrastructure, from P&L visibility to project controls, that scales without losing agility
Building BD pipelines and go/no-go discipline that make growth consistent and visible
Reading risk clearly, communicating it plainly, and managing it cleanly, without slowing the business down
Translating legal and compliance complexity into simple tools and practices the whole team can use
Negotiating and managing contracts across sectors
Adage
"A leader is best when people barely know he exists. When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves." - Lao Tzu
Bio
Wendy Reid helps mission-driven firms build the operational and commercial foundations that turn ambition into durable growth. For more than 25 years, she has led complex operations, managed large-scale P&L centers, and built the functions, agreements, and reporting systems that let organizations execute with discipline in high-stakes environments.
As Chief of Operations & Growth at Frontier, Wendy leads across four interconnected domains: business development and growth, contracts and compliance, operational maturity, and mergers and acquisitions. Across all of them, her work is to give Frontier's ambition the operational foundation to scale, and to ensure that growth is responsible, replicable, and durable. She partners closely with the CEO and CFO, serving as capture manager on complex pursuits, primary contracts and risk advisor across engagements, and a trusted counselor on inorganic growth.
Earlier in her career, Wendy led a $230M P&L center with more than 1,000 professionals at a major engineering and technical services firm, where she directed a consolidation of six divisions into four, integrating people, processes, and operational cadences across the combined organization. At a defense services company, she ran a P&L center supporting the Navy and other defense agencies, managing engineers and program managers across a full range of federal contract types. As Chief Operating Officer and later Chief Risk Officer of a growing professional services firm, she helped grow the business from $9M to more than $30M in revenue, built its business intelligence and project-execution functions from the ground up, secured over $150M in federal contract vehicles, and led its AI use and governance policy. That combination of operator's judgment and legal fluency continues to define her work: she has seen what breaks as organizations scale, and she builds so it doesn't.
Wendy holds a BA from Yale University, a JD from UCLA School of Law, and an LL.M. in National Security Law with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center. She earned MIT's Professional Certificate in Applied Generative AI for Digital Transformation and holds an active Top Secret clearance. She is a member of the State Bar of California and the D.C. Bar, and she serves on the board of the Dempsey Center as Governance Committee Chair.
